Maui ADVENTURES
Plan Your Adventure > Camping > Maui Camping

Camping is a great way to see the Maui, as well as other islands in Hawaii (Big Island, Kauai or Oahu). It is also a great way to visit Maui on a budget. Some camping sites have amenities while others are more primitive. Cabins are also available at some sites if you don't want to sleep in a tent the entire time.

You'll need to get the proper camping permits, for free or a nominal fee. Some sites are in very high demand (e.g., Haleakala cabins), so you will need to plan ahead. (Reservations can be made up to a year in advance.)

Don't forget to pack your camping gear. Whatever you forget, you might be able to purchase at one of the local outfitter stores.

The Hawaii camping sites only have cold water. For a hot shower, you could try one of those sunshowers. Alternatively, you might want to stay at a hotel some nights.
